The Place Beyond The Pines (2012)

Scene: Runaway teen Jason purchases a motorcycle, similar to his estrange hobbyist rider father. The Place Beyond The Pines is a story of multiple people whose lives become intermingled through generations of circumstances and decisions. It is thought-provoking, dense, and touches on a wide range of topics, themes and traumas. For this reason, the atmosphere is heavy during it's final scene as the viewer begins to digest it all. The acoustic guitar fits the scenery well, but not the tone. Albeit melancholic, it is still too cheery, bright and hopeful for the wide range of emotions you are experiencing at the end of this film. The tonal quality of the piano, better matches the tone of the film. As I said before there was a lot to think about during this movie, and it would have made the experience more fulfilling if I was given the time to reflect.
