This movie had some great soundtrack moments, but also ones extremely indicative of the time it was made. I think here it was a song choice made because of the popularity of the band but not what the scene needed. For me, the gravitas of the scene is completely washed away by the choice of "City Of Blinding Lights". One of the most pivotal moments of the film is steamrolled, and as a viewing experience it was jarring. While I do think the montage of Paris's dazzling aesthetics should not be set to something depressing and downtrodden, I think it still needs to retain a poignancy. Also, shocker! I think there is an opportunity to use French music to introduce France. This song has a swanky sound while being wistful at the same time.
